The Story of Lavender Workshop for Care Homes

£50 + MILEAGE A show-and-tell style workshop perfect for the whole home and inclusive of all residents, regardless of ability. This will be a story led talk about how lavender impacts today’s world and how it was used in the past, including Queen Victoria’s love of it and how the nurses used it on the front line in World War 2.
Using storytelling, physical aids and props often revive memories for each participant. 1940s magazines, dried lavender and lavender wellbeing aids will be handed around as I gently lead residents through the lavender journey linking back to what they might have experienced as young children. Lavender has natural compounds that calm the nervous system, enhancing their sense of calm and relaxation throughout this memory evoking workshop.
How long are your workshops?
The Story of Lavender Workshop can last between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours - it really depends on the residents. The longest time I’ve taken is 2 hours as the memories just came flooding back for so many and each one spurred on a new conversation! It is a great one for the community feel in the home.
